August 15, 2017 - The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time for students of all ages, but when a child is hospitalized, the accompanying emotional and financial stress can be an overwhelming burden for many families. This month, in partnership with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, the University of Michigan Police Department (UMPD) aimed to lighten the load with its "Shop with a Cop-Back to School" program.
June 27, 2017 - The Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) honored the past, present and future of U-M safety and security at the long-anticipated MStaff200 gala. The day-long event celebrated U-M staff contributions and talent over the last 200 years and beyond.
June 19, 2017 - Today the Ann Arbor Police Department announced that a 28-year-old man has been arrested, charged and arraigned on three counts of armed robbery in connection with three armed robberies near campus in January and February. Crime alerts #2017-1 and #2017-5 have been canceled.
June 5, 2017 - The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) released a new educational video on Active Attacker Response and Prevention.
The video aims to educate students, faculty and staff about how to respond during an active attacker situation and the warning signs often displayed by people who are at risk of hurting themselves or others.
April 27, 2017 - The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) and Michigan Media will be filming a educational video on active attacker response on North Campus on Wednesday (May 3) from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
April 7, 2017 - In 2016, there were 16 tornadoes across the state of Michigan, which is near the state average of 15, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Severe weather in 2016 also was responsible for two deaths in Michigan, both due to lightning.
April 3, 2017 - The University of Michigan's Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) will host and participate in a number of activities during the month of April to raise awareness about sexual violence prevention and response in recognition of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).
March 17, 2017 - An incident occurred on the University of Michigan Diag March 16 around 5 p.m. in which Ann Arbor Police officers chased and caught a felony suspect and drove over a light pole. No bystanders were injured during the incident.
March 14, 2017 - DPSS detectives are attempting to identify two subjects in connection with burglaries at the School of Public Health buildings.
March 13, 2017 - As we approach St. Patrick's Day this week, we want everyone to celebrate responsibly. Here are some tips to help you safely navigate the festivities this year.
March 8, 2017, 4 pm - The National Weather Service's high wind warning is scheduled to expire at 7 pm tonight. Some roads in southeast Michigan are closed due to downed power lines. Use caution when driving or moving around outdoors.

At the University of Michigan, our officers regularly exercise protocols and are equipped to respond to active attackers.__________
Nov. 21, 2016 - Thefts of bicycles from the U-M campus continue to be a challenge for our U-M community. So far in 2016, more than 70 bicycles have been reported stolen from campus locations. When bicycles serve as the primary mode of transportation for many of us, we need to take every measure to ensure their security.
