Statement Regarding Active Shooter Situation in West Bloomfield

The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is aware of an active law enforcement situation currently unfolding at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

At this time, there is no known threat to the University of Michigan campuses. Out of an abundance of caution, DPSS has increased police and security presence.

DPSS remains in close communication with regional law enforcement partners and will continue to monitor developments. We will share updates with the campus community if additional information relevant to the university becomes available.

We encourage community members to remain aware of their surroundings and report any concerns to DPSS by calling 734-763-1131 or 911 in an emergency.
