Dear Community Members,

Yesterday’s tragic incident deeply affected all of us, and I want to take a moment to recognize and thank you for your extraordinary response. Your diligence, quick action, and care for one another made a real difference in helping us identify and apprehend the suspect.

The increased call volume to our Dispatch Operations—up more than 50% from the time the emergency alert was issued until this morning—shows just how strongly our community rallied together. The tips and information provided directly supported our efforts and reinforced the vital role collaboration plays in keeping our campus safe.

We are deeply grateful for our community and your partnership. Safety is not something DPSS can achieve alone—it requires the commitment of every member of our community. Yesterday’s response demonstrated the strength of that commitment and the compassion we have for one another in moments of crisis.
