What Are Blue Light Phones?
Blue light phones, also known as emergency call boxes, provide a direct line to DPSS whenever a community member needs security or emergency help. Strategically located around campus, they illuminate at night to enhance safety. When someone presses a button, they alert DPSS Dispatch Services, who assist as needed.
How It Works
When someone removes the telephone receiver from the cradle or pushes the button, DPSS Dispatch Services are automatically provided a location and will send an officer to the telephone's location. No dialing or conversation is required, but try to describe the emergency to the dispatcher when you call.
Red Box Emergency Phones & Buttons
Red box emergency phones or buttons in campus parking structures and building elevators also directly connect to DPSS Dispatch Services.
